The Baroness
A studio photograph of “Baroness V. Preuschen Telmann” — Preuschen under her second married name — seated on a sofa in the kind of richly appointed interior visitors to her studio always remarked upon. It survives as a high-resolution glass-plate negative in the Library of Congress, the sharpest likeness of her we have.
It was taken in New York by the Bain News Service during her American tour of 1909–10, at the same sitting as On Tour in America: the plate is numbered 1015-4 on the glass, in a series running from 1015-2 to 1015-5. The Library of Congress record dates it March 1910.
