A Trompe l'Oeil with Flowers
A second still life (1883) in the British Royal Collection (RCIN 403727), painted as a trompe-l’oeil — an illusion designed to fool the eye into reading the flowers as real, projecting from the surface. Together with Vases and Flowers, it shows the technical command of her early “historical still life” period.
